Welcome to our SACAI accredited FET Phase Online Homeschooling program! We are dedicated to providing a structured and comprehensive learning experience for students in the Further Education and Training (FET) phase.

Our program is designed to ensure academic progress and engagement through the use of termly planners and involvement trackers.Termly Planners and Weekly Work:Each subject in our curriculum is accompanied by a detailed termly planner.

These planners outline the weekly work that needs to be completed, providing a clear roadmap for students to follow.By breaking down the curriculum into manageable weekly tasks, we promote effective time management and help students stay on track with their studies.

Involvement Trackers for Progress Monitoring:At the end of each week, students are required to complete involvement trackers. These trackers serve as a tool for students to reflect on their learning and demonstrate their understanding of the material covered.

If a student does not meet the required standards, they will be notified and given the opportunity to redo the involvement tracker on our Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). This process ensures that students have a chance to reinforce their knowledge and address any areas of weakness.

Canvas LMS for Seamless Learning:Our online learning platform is powered by Canvas, a robust and user-friendly Learning Management System.

COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT IN THE FET PHASE: EXPLORING TASKS,ORALS AND ASSIGNMENTS AS PER SACAI GUIDELINES

“Comprehensive Assessment in the FET Phase: Exploring Tasks, Orals, and Assignments as per SACAI Guidelines”In the FET Phase, assessment plays a crucial role in evaluating learners’ progress and understanding of the curriculum.

SACAI (South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute) provides guidelines for assessment in homeschooling and distance education settings. These guidelines encompass various assessment methods, including tasks, orals, and assignments. Tasks: Tasks are a form of assessment that allows learners to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a practical or applied manner.

These tasks can be designed to assess specific outcomes or competencies within a subject. They may involve research projects, experiments, presentations, or other hands-on activities. Tasks provide learners with an opportunity to showcase their understanding and application of concepts in a real-world context. Orals: Orals are assessments conducted through spoken communication. They are typically used to evaluate learners’ verbal skills, comprehension, and ability to articulate their thoughts and ideas.

Orals may involve individual presentations, , debates, or interviews. This form of assessment allows learners to demonstrate their communication skills, critical thinking, and ability to express themselves effectively. Assignments: Assignments are a common form of assessment that requires learners to complete specific tasks or exercises independently. These assignments can be in the form of written essays, reports, problem-solving exercises, or other structured tasks.

Assignments assess learners’ ability to research, analyze information, think critically, and present their findings in a coherent and organized manner.SACAI guidelines emphasize the importance of aligning assessments with the curriculum and ensuring that they cover the required learning outcomes.

Assessments should be fair, valid, and reliable, providing an accurate reflection of learners’ knowledge and skills. SACAI also encourages the use of rubrics or marking guidelines to ensure consistent and objective assessment.

It is important to note that SACAI guidelines may vary depending on the specific subject, grade level, and curriculum being followed. Homeschooling institutions that align with SACAI guidelines typically provide detailed assessment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

By following SACAI guidelines for assessment, homeschooling and distance education learners in the FET Phase can receive a comprehensive and well-rounded evaluation of their academic progress. These assessments help identify areas of strength and areas that may require additional support, ultimately supporting learners in their educational journey and preparation for future academic and career pursuits.
