The FET phase, Grade 10 to 12, is the home straight: your child chooses subjects, sits formal assessments, and works toward a matric that opens doors. It carries real weight, and it rewards planning. Here is how it works from home.
Two routes to a recognised qualification
- CAPS: your child works toward the National Senior Certificate, assessed through SACAI, the recognised matric accepted by SA universities.
- Cambridge: AS and A Levels, sat as a private candidate at an official Cambridge centre, recognised internationally.
Choosing subjects (this matters)

How assessment works
Assessments are invigilated through the Invigilator App (a SACAI requirement from Grade 9), with Grade 12 sitting formal external examinations. Read how SACAI works for the detail.
What the matric year costs
